The planned indefinite strike by the organized Labour, Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress in Abia State has been suspended by its leadership.

The State Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Okoro Ogbonnaya while addressing Journalists during a joint press briefing in Umuahia, said the suspension of the indefinite strike action was to give time for the State government to implement the memorandum of understanding it has reached with the Labour union over the issues raised including, the wage award, 30,000 minimum wage, leave allowances, among others.

The Labour leader maintained that the union will have no option than to embark on the strike action without giving any further notice to the State government if it fails to implement the 7-point agreement reached in the memorandum of understanding before the 28th of July, 2024.
