GOVERNOR OTTI DESERVES A SECOND TERM - SENATOR ENYINNAYA ABARIBE

The Senator representing Abia South Senatorial district in the National Assembly,  Chief Enyinnaya Abaribe says he sees no stumbling block towards Governor Alex Otti's second term in office considering his intimidating achievements across the State.

Senator Abaribe who made his point while interacting with news men when he paid Christmas and New year visit to Governor Otti alongside his wife, said Governor Otti has shown great leadership qualities.

Senator Abaribe who said, though he belongs to APGA, a different political party from Governor Otti, all he cares for is about good governance and not political party.

"Even though my party is APGA and his party is Labour, we have moved beyond party lines to focus on governance. I came to encourage him. He's done so well and we want to ensure he continues delivering for the people of Abia.

"I think second tenure is still very far away but I do not see any stumbling block on the way if we go by what he has done at this point".

Speaking further, on Governor Otti's performance Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe said as one that is familiar with Aba, the Governor has done tremendously well in infrastructure, and other sectors of the State economy. 

Senator Abaribe who is also the Chairman of South East Senators said that they spent quality time discussing the issue of governance in the State and what they can do from the National Assembly to help the Governor achieve more for the State.

The federal legislator said that their concern is the development of the South East, and to ensure that the South East is not left behind while the rest of Nigeria is moved forward. 

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for promising to do the rail lines and other infrastructure within the South East during his visit to Enugu over the weekend to commission some projects. 

On the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe described President Tinubu as a listening leader, expressing optimism that he will listen to the advice of the Attorney General of the federation and others advising and appealing for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's release.

He said that Stakeholders in the South East will continue to call on President to release Nnamdi Kanu, a move that will restore peace, security and development in the region. 

On President Tinubu tax reform bill before the National Assembly, Senator Abaribe said Senators from the South East region will continue to negotiate and debate on what will benefit the South East region as they are not in a hurry to pass the bill into law.
