OVER 100 SOUTH EAST WOMEN BENEFITS FROM THE RENEWED HOPE INITIATIVE WOMEN AGRICULTURAL SUPPORT PROGRAMME

 The Wife of the President of Nigeria Senator Oluremi Tinubu was in Owerri, Imo State for the flag-off of the Renewed Hope Initiative Women Agricultural support programme for the South East geo-political zone.

The Nigeria first lady while addressing women at the event which attracted Wives of the Governors in South East said the Renewed Hope Initiative Women Agricultural support programme in which 20 women drawn from each of the South East States will receive 500 thousand Naira is aimed at empowering women through agriculture and boost food productivity particularly now, with the prevailing economic challenges in the country.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu urged the Wives of the Governors to replicate the programme in their various States and ensure that more women benefit from it, adding that President Ahmed Bola Tinubu attaches great importance to agricultural development and women empowerment.

In his remarks, the Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma who thanked the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for the kind gesture towards the South East States, noted that the programme will promote farming and assured that it will be replicated in the States.

In her welcome address, the Wife of the Imo State Governor, Mrs. Chioma Hope Uzodinma described the event as epoch making that will benefit the womenfolk and commended the first lady for the programme which she said will give grassroot women a sense of belonging.

Speaking also, the Director-General National Agricultural and Development Agency(NALDA), Prince Paul Ikonne said the agency will support the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu to promote farming, women empowerment and capacity building in the country.

The Wives of Governors in the South East were given ten million Naira cheques for the beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Initiative Women Agricultural support programme, while agricultural tools and input provided by National Agricultural and Development Agency were distributed to women farmers.
