The Safe Tent Care Initiative, a foundation set up by the Wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti has provided educational materials to 1,000 indigent school children in the State in its Back-to-School outreach programme.
Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma OttiSpeaking at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia during the flag-off of the first edition of Back-to-School programme of the foundation, the Wife of the Governor and President of Safe Tent Care Initiative, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti said the aim of the project is to ease the burden on parents and ensure children return to school prepared.
She noted that every child have the right to education, while calling on all stakeholders to join hands in ensuring every Abia child gets quality education, and advised the school children to value the educational materials as tools to improve themselves through learning.
Earlier in her remarks, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Maureen Aghukwa applauded Mrs. Otti's commitment to education, noting that it reflects the government focus on securing a better future for Abia children.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for basic education Elder Goodluck Ubochi represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Kenechukwu Nwosu, Chairperson Abia State Universal Basic Education Board Mrs. Lydia Onuoha and the Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation Mrs. Ngozi Felix said the outreach goes beyond educational aid, but an effort at restoring the dignity of education and renewing hope for children across the State.
