The Authority of the Economic Community of West African States has issued a one week ultimatum to the coupists in Niger Republic to reinstate the ousted President Mohammed Bazoum as the legitimate Head of State.

After an extraordinary summit on sociopolitical situation in the Republic of Niger held today in Abuja and presided over by the ECOWAS Chairman, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a communiqué was released containing stiff sanctions against the country including;

1. Closure of land and air borders between ECOWAS and Niger Republic.

2. Institution of ECOWAS no flight zone to all commercial flights to and fro Niger Republic.

3. Suspension of all commercial and financial transactions between ECOWAS members States and Niger Republic.

4. Freeze all service transactions including energy transactions.

5. Freeze assets of Niger Republic in all ECOWAS Central banks.

6. Freeze all Niger Republic enterprises in commercial banks.

7. Suspension of Niger Republic from all financial assistance and transactions with all financial institutions.

8. Impose travel bans on the military officials and members of their family involved in the coup attempt including anyone who accepts to take a position in the military government.

The Commander of the Presidential guard and leader of the military coup in Nigeria Republic, General Abdourahamane Tiani had on Friday declared himself the New Head of State.
