The wife of the governor Mrs Priscilla Otti has described the 70th inaugural lecture by professor Ijeoma Ihukwumere on the topic, environmental challenges: the redemptive power of microorganisms as a working tool for nation's development.

 Mrs Otti who stated this at Abia state University auditorium during the 70th inaugural lecture of the state University expressed happiness for the intelligence of the inaugural lecturer who she described as her friend and course mate whose academic attainment and resilience will serve as a beacon of hope for women that want to achieve their goals and dreams in life.

 The wife of the governor reassured that the present government will boost education sector towards the development of the state. She disclosed that points listed out by the inaugural lecturer will help check environmental challenges and make the society a better place to live if they are implemented. 

She commended the university community for their selfless services in training the future leaders and carrying out reseaches that will contribute to socioeconomic and political development of the country. 

In his speech, the chairman on the occasion and Vice Chancellor of Abia state University Uturu Professor Onyemachi Maxwell Ogbulu described the inaugural lecturer professor Ijeoma Ihukwumere as astute academic who has made giant strides in her field and that her lecture will contribute to environmental developments.

 He thanked the wife of the governor Mrs Priscilla Otti for her visit to their citedal of learning and assured of the institution's loyalty to the administration. 

 In her lecture, professor Ijeoma Ihukwumere who spoke on the topic: environmental challenges, the redemptive power of microorganisms explained that different forms of wastes have negative impacts the environment.

 She urged the public and government at various levels to embrace tree planting, research and publication about the ecosystem as well as knowledge in capacity building to reduce environmental hazards.

  The wife of the governor made a presentation of an award to inaugural lecturer on behalf of the University, which was attended by distinguished academicians across the country and some members of state exco.
