50 MILLION NAIRA DISBURSED TO 250 ELDERLY CITIZENS IN AKWA IBOM THROUGH THE RENEWED HOPE INITIATIVE

250 elderly citizens in Akwa Ibom State has benefited from the second edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme of the First lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

The initiative which saw the disbursement of 200,000 naira each to 250 elderly citizens in Akwa Ibom State is designed to support the welfare of this old men and women aged 65 and above annually in all the States in the federation,  FCT and DEPOWA.

Performing the ceremony at the Ibom Hall in Uyo, the First lady designate and the RHI State Coordinator, Mrs. Helen Eno Obareki who represented the Wife of the President announced an increase in the grant from 100,000 naira to 200,000 naira to ensure the elderly citizens enjoys the festive period. 

Mrs. Helen Eno Obareki enjoined the beneficiaries to take their health seriously adopting healthy lifestyle and engaging in activities that keeps them in a happy mood.

Earlier in her remarks, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Ini Adiakpan applauded the commitment of Senator Oluremi Tinubu to the welfare and empowerment of the aging population through provision of financial assistance and free healthcare services. 

One of the beneficiaries, Deaconness Eme Antung who spoke on behalf of others, thanked the Nigeria first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for always looking out for the elderly in the country irrespective of political affiliation or ethnic inclination, and commended the Coordinator of the RHI in  Akwa Ibom, Mrs. Helen Eno Obareki for her large heart ensuring the largeese to them across the local government areas.
