The Wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti has commended the medical team of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas for their sacrifice in embarking on a free medical mission in the State.


Mrs. Otti who stated this at Michael Okpara Auditorium during a programme organized for health caregivers on "Helping Babies Survive" said that many babies die after birth as a result of complications and inadequate healthcare.

She saluted the health professionals in the State for their commitment towards the success of the ANPA free medical mission in the State and assured her support towards ensuring eradication of infant mortality in the State.

In her remarks, the Commissioner for health Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo noted that the Ministry of health through the support of Governor Alex Otti has improved health services in the State including; immunization, deployment of health professionals and workers to the health facility centers in the State, and commended the ANPA and other collaborators for the partnership.


In her goodwill message, a Past District Governor Rotary district 9142, Nigeria Rotarian Grace Okaro described the ANPA free medical mission in Abia State as welcome development, pointing that Rotary International is always poised to provide partnership in health intervention initiatives and mentioned that the organization is at the forefront towards global eradication of polio, and called on all to support the State government in her laudable programmes.

In her speech, the President of Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas, Dr. Chinyere Anyaogu said that they came to Abia State to partner in providing quality healthcare to the public as part of their humanitarian services to the society.


She disclosed that they have special passion towards eradication of infant mortality and expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for creating enabling environment for them to carry out the programme in the State.

The Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti watched the demonstration of baby resuscitation exercise during the programme which was attended by notable personalities in the State.
