Over 200 persons has benefitted from the free medical outreach organized by the Rotary Club of Umuahia North in partnership with the Rotary Club of Obowo, at the Community healthcare Centre, EkeOkwuru Ohuhu in Umulenso Okaiuga Alike ancient Kingdom, Umuahia North local government area of Abia State.

Addressing the teeming number of rural dwellers who came out for the free medical outreach, the President of the Rotary Club of Umuahia North Rotarian Jonathan Ibiloye and his counterpart from the Rotary Club of Obowo, Rotarian Prince Ahamefula Nwankwo said that the partnership is driven by the desire to make bigger impact in the community and noted that the project was targeted at providing free healthcare services to people in the rural area, and to encourage them on regular medical checkup.

They restated that Rotary International will continue to complement the effort of government in addressing the healthcare needs of its citizens, but however, expressed worry at the "Japa Syndrome" amongst most of the competent health practitioners in Nigeria, and called on government to thoroughly look into the health sector with the mind of improving the infrastructure, remuneration and working condition of the health workers.

Receiving the medical team comprised of Rotarians drawn from the two partnering Rotary clubs, the Vice Chairman of Umulenso Okaiuga Alike ancient Kingdom Mr. Nkemakolam Awazie thanked them for bringing the health intervention project to his community for the second time, and pointed that a healthy body is all one requires to be able to cater for other needs.

Some of the beneficiaries including, Mrs. Angela Chinedu and Pastor Kingsley Onyebuchi Abazie said the free medical outreach provided most of them the opportunity to run test on Hepatitis A & B, Malaria, HIV, BP and blood sugar checks, not excluding the administration of drugs. 

They prayed God to bless members of the Rotary Club significantly, to continue to reach out more people in the society.
