The embattled Emefiele appeared before the Presiding Judge, Nicholas Oweibo, over allegation of unlawful possession of firearms by the Federal Ministry of Justice.

Following his suspension on June 9, 2023 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the deputy director Operations directorate of the apex bank, Folashodun Adenisi Shonubi was assigned to take up responsibility as its Chief Executive.

Justice Nicholas granted 20 million Naira bail and a surety in the same amount to the suspended CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, while the case was adjourned till 14 November, 2023.
