Through the annual August Women conference, Governor Alex Otti has promised to encourage women in their efforts to contribute to the growth and development of the State.

At the 2023 annual August Delegates Women Conference, hosted by the office of the Wife of the Governor, Governor Otti hailed the women as "true tools in nation building."

The chief executive of Abia State praised the women for their resounding support throughout the state from the election time till now, which made it necessary to provide women with sensitive positions in his government so they could demonstrate their abilities.

He acknowledged that his government is gender sensitive and will continue to provide women with the finest opportunities to lead their programs.

Mrs. Priscillia Otti, the Governor's wife, noted in her remarks that the August women's gathering this year is special because it is the first since the start of the new administration in Abia.

By providing women significant seats at the State's decision-making table, Governor Otti, according to Mrs. Otti, has already shown his love for women.

Speaking as well, Mr. Darlington Nwokocha, the Senator for the Abia Central Senatorial Zone, emphasized the importance of the August Women's Meeting for the advancement of women in the community, upholding family values, the church, and society at large.

The August women's conference theme, "Abia Women Dare to Dream," is meant to encourage women to be more devoted in pursuing their life goals and objectives, according to the Commissioner for Women's Affairs and Poverty alleviation, Mrs. Blessing Felix, who spoke at the event.

She made a point of mentioning how the programme is used to support the underprivileged and empower women.

In his contribution, Chief Greg Okafor, who chaired the event, commended the Governor's wife for enlisting the support of Abia women and expressed the hope that the event would result in more positive outcomes for the State.
