In a viral video on social media six months ago, Ms. Tania Okpara, an ex-tennis star was captured wandering the streets of Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria and it caught the attention of the Anambra State government who took her in for rehabilitation.

Following the full recovery of Ms. Tania Okpala, the Anambra State government has offered her an appointment, and support necessary to help start a new life.

The Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs. Nonye Soludo who made the announcement at the Governor's lodge, Amawbia while giving the latest update on Ms. Tania's full recovery journey, recalled that on seeing the ex-tennis star's video circulating on social media, immediately directed the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare to bring her in for rehabilitation.

Mrs. Soludo while addressing Journalists, said that the appointment of Ms. Tania Okpala as a Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Works under the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, would give her the opportunity to impact younger people using her story.

She revealed that the State government took care of Ms. Tania's full recovery and described her survival as a miraculous story that would serve as an inspiration to humanity.

The Anambra first lady further said apart from providing Ms. Tania accomodation in a private staff quarters in the Governor's official residence, she has also been enrolled in the University where she is currently studying Psychology at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

She assured that the government will continue to monitor her progress in behavior and education through the family, and expressed hope that Ms. Tania would make the best use of the opportunities given her.

The father of  Ms. Tania, Joel Okpala while commending the Governor' wife, said the State government has made valuable impact in the life of  his daughter, and disclosed that the family had tried so many unconventional methods to get her back to normalcy.

The over joyous father expressed gratitude to Mrs. Soludo for coming to the rescue of his daughter and added that their worries are over following the intervention of the State government.

Speaking, Ms. Tania Okpala said that she will take everything one step at a time, but explained that she had always looked out for an opportunity to serve Anambra State, and thanked the wife of the Governor for embracing her as her own daughter while  staying committed to her welfare all through the recovery period.
