With the commencement of the 2024 routine immunization programme in Anambra State, the wife of the Governor Mrs. Nonye Soludo has called for active participation from all stakeholders.

Mrs. Soludo who through a press release observed that the immunization programme offers another opportunity for a collective approach against so many child killer diseases, said that the government has set a new target in both coverage and results, and explained that this year's exercise will be carried out with a better vision.

The Anambra first lady harped on the need for a collaborative effort from every stakeholder to achieve better result, and complement government targets and goals.

She urged parents and guardians to ensure their children within the eligible vaccination age are duly vaccinated, while charging the health workers to target people in rural communities, especially those living in riverine areas for vaccination.

The Governor's wife also revealed that the State has made great progress in tackling child killer diseases, earning it the second spot as the State with lowest cases of under-5 mortality in the country and restated the commitment of the current administration to achieve the least count of infant death that would be very sustainable.

The major diseases to be vaccinated against include tuberculosis, diarrhoea, poliomyelitis, diphtheria, hepatitis, pneumonia, whooping cough, tetanus and meningitis.
