A Past President of the Rotary Club of Umuahia and a former District Rotaract Committee Chair, Rotary district 9142 Rotarian Ogechi Becky Oguama was among the first set of Permanent Secretaries in Abia State to be sworn-In under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti.

Speaking at the Government house, Umuahia after the administration of the oath of office and allegiance on the new 24 Permanent Secretaries, the Governor charged them to be firm and live above board in the discharge of their duties as his administration will not hesitate to enforce disciplinary actions on anyone of them found indulging in corrupt practices.

He further charged them to strive to improve themselves in knowledge so as to add value to the system, and reaffirmed that in the new Abia, the only thing that matters is competence and character and not one's place of origin or religion.

"You have not been chosen because you are perfect. You must therefore strive to constantly improve yourself, learn, relearn and unlearn"

"We expect to see more digitalization of civil service operations and I encourage you to work with all critical stakeholders in this regard", he said.

The Abia State Governor said that the selection of the 24 Permanent Secretaries was done through thorough screening, and recalled that over 320 applicants went through the process before the emergence of the 24 of them.

He congratulated the Permanent Secretaries and expressed hope that they would live up to the expectations.

Speaking at the reception organized for one of the newly sworn-In Permanent Secretaries in Abia State, Rotarian Ogechi Becky Oguama at the Police Officers Mess, Umuahia the District Governor Rotary district 9142, Akan Eman who was accompanied by other Rotary leaders congratulated Rotarian Oguama on the remarkable attainment in her career in the Abia State civil service, noting that it takes hard work and God's grace to get to such height and expressed optimism that she will excel in her new role.

Responding, Rotarian Ogechi Becky Oguama thanked Governor Alex Otti for finding her worthy to serve in the capacity of Permanent Secretary in the State, assuring that she would work in line with the civil service reform agenda of the present administration and promised to justify the confidence reposed in her.
